Health Check-up for Bone and Joint Disease:-

Good Doctor is a good clinician and by clinical examination Dr have fairly good idea about the state of health of patient’s joints and bone and the likely provisional diagnosis.

Firstly Dr. Soni will perform physical examination of the affected part and the joint above and below and also of spine and opposite uninvolved limb. He may also enquire about any genitourinary symptoms if appropriate.

He or she will than order appropriate diagnostic tests for example:

  1. Radiographs ( X rays)
  2. Blood tests:
    • Routine like CBC ESR, C-RP
    • Specific specialised test. Like Immunological studies, Rheumatiod factor, ACPA, ACCP, Anti MCV assay, Renal functions, Liver enzymes , Bone Profile, ANA, and Serum ferritin for haemachromatosis etc.
  3. DEXA scan ( bone densitometry )
  4. Isotope bone scan
  5. CT Scan or Contrast enhanced CT
  6. MRI or MR Arthrogram
  7. Joint aspiration and analysis
  8. EMG / Nerve conduction studies etc.

Test are tailored to each individual patient.

Person has to adopt a posture that is most comfortable and least stressful for musculoskeletal system and for body as a whole; be it at work, sports, or leisure activities. One has to adopt correct working position.

Chairs and work table height and design should be adjusted to suit the user. Sedentary workers should have break at regular intervals and stretch your body and neck in order to relieve neck and back muscles.

Maintain correct sitting posture while working with computer in order to avoid neck and back pain.

Children should not study in bed, get a table and chair.
